Both of these logos were designed for all materials made for the 45th and 47th Buffalo Bayou Partnership Regatta. These t-shirts were given to all the participants of the regatta in their registration package.
Buffalo Bayou Partnership (BBP) is the non-profit organization revitalizing and transforming Buffalo Bayou, Houston's most significant natural resource. Every year they hold a regatta to raise funds for the non-profit. The ask was simple, to create a new logo to be used on t-shirts given to the regatta participants, and promotional material. BBP then takes all the submitted logos and puts them to a vote on their social media channels. Designing for the same occasion can feel repetitive, but there are so many different aspects of this even to be inspired by. For the 45th regatta, we focused on the buffalo. By creating vector illustrations of canoes, kayaks, oars, and water, we were able to create a straight-on depiction of a Buffalo. In contrast, for the 47th regatta, we pursued a more geometric approach. We were inspired by how the 4 & 7 can interact with each other, and applied our oar illustrations to highlight the regatta element. For both, we also chose to follow the blue and green color palette BBP uses throughout their branding. The above designs were chosen for the 45th and 47th Buffalo Bayou Partnership Regattas.
